Functional Requirements
Closely related to business process analysis
is the development of functional requirements that form the
basis for the assessment and procurement of information systems. Our
functional requirements may involve:

reviews;
-
Interviews;
-

“straw models”;

Workshops to confirm
the models;

The development of
best practice / business process improvement requirements; and
-
The development of
detailed functional requirements.
The largest example of
our functional requirement definition work to date has been for the
South Australian Department of Health in 2002 in conjunction with KPMG.
The scope of work undertaken by our consultants included:
-
Patient management
requirements such as; client registration, client index, referral
management, outpatient appointment scheduling, elective waiting list
management, inpatient and bed management, clinical coding and cancer
registration;
-
Allied health
requirements;
-
Mental health
requirements;
-
Emergency department
requirements;
-
Theatre department
requirements; and
-
The requirements of
Corrections Health.
This assignment involved
almost eight weeks of intensive workshops across the South Australian
metropolitan hospitals and corrections health, with participation by
several hundred hospital staff. |
